The goal of this collaborative effort is to identify and understand the learning contexts that enhance memory.
It is well known that how we learn and remember information is influenced by context, including internal states (e.g., emotions) and external environments (e.g., classroom vs. home). It also is well documented that we perform better when the environment in which we have to remember and use information is similar to the environment in which we learned it.
But why is this the case? What are the mechanisms?
How can we lever this knowledge of mechanism to improve how learners of all ages and abilities remember?
These are the overarching questions addressed in this collaborative endeavor.
